Key pillars in the Sustainability Strategy

Principle-Based Strategy

Growthfund and its subsidiaries are shaping a Sustainability Strategy and ESG practices for the next three years, starting from 2022, with the aim of mitigating the impact of climate change while improving the performance of state-owned assets and enhancing citizens’ quality of life.

In collaboration with the management teams of its portfolio members, Growthfund sets ESG Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), aligned with the expectations of its stakeholders. It also creates and implements a roadmap for the achievement of the ESG targets based on guiding principles that are closely tied to the nature of Growthfund as a Sovereign Wealth Fund.

To realize this objective, Growthfund invests in environmental and climate sustainability, integrating climate considerations into new investments, its business operation, and decision-making processes.

Growthfund, the National Fund of Greece, is committed to its investment program of €10 million, fully taking into account the parameter of environmental and climate sustainability. At the same time, our Sustainability Report is an integral part of Growthfund’s Strategic Plan for 2022-2024.

Furthermore, we take action to support the circular economy, aiming for a substantial reduction in resource waste in Greece, with a focus on water and food, either independently or through strategic partnerships with other entities.
Growthfund takes initiatives for the public real estate development by incorporating ESG criteria into tenders, while simultaneously supporting the Ministry of Energy and Environment in the Fair Development Transition Plan for the country’s lignite areas by 2028.
