Growthfund announces the launch of an international tender for the concession of the right to use, operate, manage, and commercially exploit the Marina of Kalamaria.
The tender process will be conducted in two phases, with the deadline for the submission of Expressions of Interest set for February 27, 2026. The concession term will be at least thirty-five (35) years, while Growthfund has the option to extend the concession duration by a maximum of ten (10) years.
The Marina of Kalamaria is located on the eastern coast of the Thermaicos Gulf, along the coastal front of the Municipality of Kalamaria, at a distance of 10 kilometers from the center of Thessaloniki and 9 kilometers from Macedonia International Airport. It is the only marina currently in operation in the metropolitan area of Thessaloniki. It has a capacity of 242 berths for vessels up to 30 meters in length, while the total land area of the marina amounts to 76,210 m².
For the development of the marina, Growthfund has compiled a Strategic Development Plan (Master Plan), which was approved by Presidential Decree following review by the Council of State in 2023. The environmental terms of the project were approved in October 2025 by a joint decision of the Ministers of Environment and Energy and Tourism.
According to the Presidential Decree, permitted uses within the marina include tourism and leisure activities, as well as onshore storage and maintenance of vessels. The Master Plan also provides for the development of open-air areas, pedestrian and sports walkways, as well as green spaces, all of which will be freely accessible to the public. In addition, an increase in the marina’s capacity is provided for, to a total of 327 berths for vessels up to 40 meters in length.
Further details of the tender process are set out in the Call for Expressions of Interest, which has been published on Growthfund’s website (https://growthfund.gr/en/procurement/prosklisi-ypovolis-ekdilosis-endiaferontos-anaforika-me-tin-anathesi-symvasis-gia-tin-parachorisi-tou-dikaiomatos-chrisis-leitourgias-diacheirisis-kai-ekmetallefsis-tis-marinas-kalamarias-aretsou/).
