Growthfund: Panagiotis Balomenos Appointed as the New CEO of GAIAOSE

With significant experience within the Growthfund Group, he is set to lead the company’s transformation.

Panagiotis Balomenos has taken on the role of CEO at GAIAOSE, coming from HPPC Hellenic (Public Properties Company) where he held the position of Deputy CEO. Mr. Balomenos has previously served successfully as Executive Director at ETAD from March 2022 to June 2024, as interim CEO from November 2022 to December 2023, and as Deputy CEO from December 2023 to June 2024. He brings expertise in real estate, operational transformation, and managing complex programs and projects.

Mr. Balomenos’ appointment to this position is based on his successful track record in the real estate sector, which aligns with the significant challenges GAIAOSE faces as part of the broader reform strategy underway. The primary objective is to transform GAIAOSE into a dedicated real estate company.

This move is also in line with Growthfund’s strategy to recognize and promote experienced internal executives who have demonstrated their capability and understanding of the group’s culture.

The Board Μembers and Growthfund extend their sincere thanks to Ms. Ioanna Dounia, who successfully served as the Acting CEO from April 2023 and is now returning to Growthfund. Konstantinos Kesentes remains as the Chairman of GAIAOSE.

Panagiotis Balomenos: Brief Bio

Panagiotis Balomenos holds a degree in Survey Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He has an MSc in Real Estate from the University of Reading, UK, and a PhD, earned on a scholarship from the EU, in the Economics of Real Estate and Real Estate Investment from the Department of Economic and Regional Development of Panteion University, where he has taught courses in real estate at the postgraduate level. He has also participated in a Harvard University business education programme on entrepreneurship.

He has extensive and diversified professional experience in real estate. He has served as Executive Director, interim CEO, and Deputy CEO at ETAD S.A., co-founded and was a general partner for twelve years in a technical company and, among other things, administrative advisor to the Hellenic Public Properties Company, technical advisor to Panhellenic Bank, scientific associate of the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE) and the Regional Development Institute, and special advisor to the Minister of Finance on privatizations and public real estate, and has served on the Boards of the Church Real Estate Development Company and the Deposits and Loans Fund.
