HCAP subsidiary GAIAOSE receives ISO 14001 certification for application of environmental management systems

GAIAOSE, a subsidiary of HCAP, received ISO 14001 certification, confirming the company’s commitment to the application of responsible business activity oriented towards people, society and the environment, and aimed at satisfying all stakeholders.

The ISO 14001 standard is the most widely used international standard for shaping and implementing an Environmental Management System that is applied by a company or an organisation, regardless of size, type and nature, and helps various activities be more competitive, innovative, and environmentally compatible.

GAIAOSE, which has been a subsidiary of HCAP since 2018, manages significant assets of the Greek State and undertakes the management and operation of railway property and rolling stock, creation and general management of freight centres, as well as production of renewable energy, having already built two photovoltaic parks with an installed capacity of 1,2 MW.

The company’s mission is to boost revenues and maintain and/or increase the value of the assets it manages, as well as to contribute to the country’s general growth prospects and competitiveness.

This growth perspective is realized through actions designed on the basis of the principles of sustainable development – in other words, based on social and environmental terms as well as the economic result. Consequently, one of the company’s aims is to improve its environmental footprintas confirmed by the company’s recent ISO 14001 certification.

GAIAOSE CEO Perikles Nikolaou stated that “The development of the assets GAIAOSE is managing is being implemented with a constant focus on the environmental impact of its activities. In this context, GAIAOSE’s ISO 14001 certification reaffirms the company’s commitment to the continuous improvement of its environmental conduct.”
