Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and Growthfund

The Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and Growthfund are launching multi-level cooperation aimed at the adjustment of the country to climate change and the strengthening of its resilience, particularly in terms of infrastructure.

Through this partnership, the two organisations aim to jointly develop know-how, utilize and disseminate knowledge and tools that will facilitate mapping and management of the impact and risks arising because of climate change, with a focus on optimal management of natural disaster risks.

The cooperation between the Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and Growthfund was established through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on November 1, 2022 by the Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianides, and Growthfund CEO, Gregory D. Dimitriadis.

Following the signing of the Memorandum, the Minister, Christos Stylianides, stated:
“Today we made another step forward along the direction of synergies. The signing of the memorandum with Growthfund highlights the importance of collective action in effectively addressing the impact of climate crisis and aims at strengthening our country’s resilience. To this end, capitalising on our mutual experience and expertise, we will develop actions and pilot programmes in sectors that are particularly vulnerable to climate-related risks, such as Greece’s critical infrastructure and the need to perform the necessary adjustments to climate change. At the same time, the objective of our collaboration is to inform and educate citizens about the climate crisis, its impact and how to respond to it.”

Gregory D. Dimitriadis stated that: “Strongly committed to the goals of the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development and Green Transition, with measurable benefits for the Greek economy, citizens and the environment, Growthfund today took another significant step towards the realization of these goals. Our cooperation with the Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection will enable us to contribute to the strengthening of the country’s infrastructure, thus increasing its resilience to the climate change impact and upgrading the mechanisms regarding environmental crisis management. Moreover, through this partnership we aim to drive the transformation of our portfolio companies towards the fulfilment of the national goals for Sustainable Development and Green Transition. At the same time, we aim to ensure that the citizens are well-informed, so they can be the state’s most powerful ally in responding to the impact of climate change.”
