Central Markets and Fishery Organization (CMFO): Supports the organization of social dining (social inclusion meals) in collaboration with the Food On NGO

The Central Markets and Fishery Organizationan HCAP group member, supports the Food On NGO in the organization of a social dining event on Tuesday, November 919:30 – 21:00 at the Central Market of Athens at Renti. The goal of this initiative is to provide an opportunity to the Food On beneficiaries to engage with various social groups, during a common dining experience.

Recognizing the significance of the issue of the social exclusion of vulnerable groups, the Central Markets and Fishery Organization is committed towards tackling the problem through consistent and responsible initiatives.

In this direction and in collaboration with Food On, it has launched a campaign to raise public awareness regarding social dining events, which aim at giving a chance to people from various social groups to get in touch, socialize and, thus, eliminate potential prejudice among them.

This initiative of the Central Markets and Fishery Organization falls under the general framework of the HCAP ESG Strategy, which emphasizes on the sustainable management of food and water.

The CEO of the Central Markets and Fishery Organization, Mr. Apostolos Apostolakos stated: “It is our responsibility to hear the needs of the community, to take action and stand by our fellow citizens in their struggle for dignified and equitable living standards. Dining –which is essential to the very nature of the Central Markets and Fishery Organization – is a ground where this endeavour can be reinforced. This is the reason why we support Food On. We believe in their valuable contribution and we look forward to the dinner of the 9th of November as the basis of joint actions”.

The Founder of Food On, Mr. Argyris Zannias, commented: “The Social Dining initiative was launched by Food On aiming at the social integration of our fellow citizens in the context of a holistic three-pronged approach. They form the starting point of the social and employment integration of those who are vulnerable, contributing to their active participation, socialization and networking with the labour market; in other words, offering them a new perspective. We are particularly pleased that the Central Markets and Fishery Organization has placed its trust in us and supports our work. We believe that this is the beginning of an invaluable collaboration”.
