PR: Successful completion of a crowdfunding initiative for the Social Plate Programme

The initiative of Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP) for crowdfunding, which was carried out through the Act4Greece platform, was successfully completed. The amount of 30,950 euros has been raised, exceeding the initial target, which will cover the operating costs for the Social Plate Programme.

This is an important programme of social contribution which has been realized with the solidarity of many parties, starting from the traders of the Central Market of Thessaloniki, who offer quantities of non-marketable but edible fruits and vegetables, which are subsequently selected, and the suitable ones for consumption, are packaged and distributed to social actors so that they could distribute them to vulnerable social groups. From the beginning of the year until October, 146 tons of food were collected, of which 103 tons were distributed.

The organizers of the initiative would like to thank everyone who has assisted, by reinforcing the effort personally or by motivating others to assist as well. Crowdfunding is a tangible movement of solidarity in actions that support society, and a practice of funding that becomes even more crucial at times of crisis like the one we are going through.
