A new role and a new mission for the country’s growth
Growthfund is entering a new era under the name Hellenic Growth Fund, as announced by the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, at the Growth Fund Investor Summit 2026.
The new name signals a fundamental shift in mission and strategic direction, with growth at its core. With a portfolio worth approximately €12.3 billion across eleven key sectors of the economy, the Hellenic Growth Fund is evolving into a modern national development and investment organization, creating lasting economic and social value for the country.
The Hellenic Growth Fund is moving from being a manager of public companies and holdings to being an active shareholder, systematically contributing to the transformation, modernization and value creation of its portfolio companies.
Having focused on attracting strategic investors for the assets it manages, it is now becoming an active investor itself. Through its four thematic funds – HIIF, Phaistos, the Hellenic Center for Defence Innovation and the Pharos AI Factory accelerator – it invests strategically in the new economy, innovation and the technologies of the future, actively helping to build a strong investment ecosystem.
Moving beyond a simple shareholding relationship in critical infrastructure, it now provides strategic advice to the State and acts proactively to develop and upgrade these assets. At the same time, through its accelerator, the Project Preparation Facility (PPF), it is strengthening its role in developing critical national infrastructure, preparing projects worth billions of euros and further boosting the country’s growth momentum.
As an institutional counterpart and a trusted local partner, the Hellenic Growth Fund connects international investors with real opportunities in Greece, acting as a one-stop shop that combines reliability, speed and a steady flow of investment opportunities.
The signing of the Kalamata Airport concession agreement and the partnership with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), both at the Growth Fund Investor Summit 2026, demonstrate in practice the two defining features of the new organization: measurable results and a strong international outlook.
The CEO of the Hellenic Growth Fund, Giannis Papachristou, said: “The new name is not just a new identity. It reflects a fundamental change in the role we are called upon to play. From a manager of public assets, the Hellenic Growth Fund is evolving into an active development and investment organization. Through the professional management of public assets, we are creating sustainable economic and social value for future generations’’.
