The Hellenic Growth Fund, the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (HDBI) and Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), an Abu Dhabi-based global sovereign investor, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore co-investment opportunities in Greece.
The MoU was signed on Thursday, 22 October 2026, during the Investopia Mediterranean conference, by Yannis Papachristou, CEO of the Hellenic Growth Fund, Meera Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Sovereign Partnerships at Mubadala, Antigoni Lymperopoulou and Haris Lampropoulos, CEO and Chairman of HDBI, respectively. The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis.
Under the terms of the MoU, the Hellenic Growth Fund joins the existing cooperation framework between HDBI and Mubadala, established in 2022, to facilitate Mubadala’s participation in investment opportunities involving:
• Companies within the portfolio of HDBI and the investment funds in which it invests.
• Companies or projects associated with the Hellenic Growth Fund’s portfolio.
• Other co-investment opportunities considered from time to time by HDBI and the Hellenic Growth Fund.
The agreement supports the Hellenic Growth Fund’s role in mobilising private capital, unlocking the value of public assets, and creating long-term value for the Greek economy.
Commenting on the signing of the MoU, Yannis Papachristou, CEO of the Hellenic Growth Fund, stated: “The cooperation between the Hellenic Growth Fund, Mubadala and the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments broadens co-investment opportunities in Greece and strengthens the prospects for delivering investments with long-term growth potential. The Fund’s evolution into an active investor is a key pillar of its strategy. Through partnerships with international investment organisations, we aim to mobilise additional capital, leverage specialised investment expertise and contribute to creating sustainable value for the Greek economy and society.”
Meera Al Suwaidi, Executive Director, Sovereign Partnerships at Mubadala, said: “Welcoming the Hellenic Growth Fund to Mubadala’s longstanding partnership with HDBI builds on our strong track record in Greece and broadens the range of investment opportunities we can explore together. By combining our international experience and networks with our partners’ local expertise, we will continue to support businesses with strong commercial potential, generate sustainable financial returns and contribute to Greece’s long-term economic growth.”
The Chairman and CEO of HDBI, Haris Lampropoulos and Antigoni Lymperopoulou, stated: “Expanding our long-standing and successful collaboration with Mubadala and bringing the Hellenic Growth Fund into the existing framework for cooperation create new opportunities to attract international capital to the Greek economy. HDBI remains committed to its mission of acting as a bridge between domestic businesses, investment vehicles and international investors, enhancing access to financing and accelerating the growth of innovative businesses with an international outlook. This collaboration reaffirms the confidence that leading international investment organisations place in our country’s prospects and contributes to the development of a stronger investment ecosystem.”
Held in Athens for the first time, Investopia Mediterranean is an international economic and investment forum bringing together policymakers, business leaders and investors from Greece and the UAE to explore opportunities across infrastructure, energy, transport, tourism, technology and private investment. The Hellenic Growth Fund was a strategic partner of the event.
