Two new contracts worth 3.9 million euros (excluding VAT) were signed on Friday, June 13, for major maintenance and infrastructure upgrades at the Athens Olympic Sports Complex (OAKA). The agreements were signed by OAKA President, Ioanna Batsou and ELEMKA S.A., a subsidiary of METKA ATE, represented by CEO Ioannis Mytilineos and General Manager Anestis Chatzipanagiotidis. Present at the signing were the Alternate Minister of Sports, Ioannis Vroutsis, Growthfund Deputy CEO, Panagiotis Stampoulidis, and OAKA General Director, Konstantinos Chalioris.
The contracts include the following projects:
These projects were prepared and tendered by the Project Preparation Facility (PPF) of Growthfund, as part of a broader collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, aiming for the full renovation of Greece’s premier Olympic sports complex. The total budget for the OAKA upgrade stands at 111 million euros.
The Alternate Minister of Sports, Ioannis Vroutsis, stated: “OAKA, the country’s most iconic sports complex, is being revitalized! With two additional projects, bringing total investments across all OAKA facilities to 111 million euros, we are safeguarding the functionality, sustainability, and modern character of a landmark venue for Greek sports. We are creating an OAKA that is open, safe for all, and worthy of its historic legacy. I would like to warmly thank the Project Preparation Facility of Growthfund for its contribution to the completion of the required procedures, the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), and to commend the management, leadership, and staff of OAKA for their professionalism, consistency, and dedicated efforts in advancing the government’s strategic plan. The ongoing interventions are part of a broader, strategic government policy aimed at the comprehensive upgrade of the country’s national sports centers for the kind of sports infrastructure we truly deserve.”
The Deputy CEO of Growthfund, Panagiotis Stampoulidis, said: “Today, we are taking another significant step towards restoring OAKA to its rightful place as a landmark of sports and culture. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, we are implementing a comprehensive plan of interventions that will enhance the safety, functionality, and sustainability of the facilities. Our common goal is to create the necessary conditions for OAKA to once again become a modern and sustainable hub for sports and development”.
