HCAP and the National Transparency Authority sign a memorandum of cooperation against corruption that sets out relative actions and initiatives.

HCAP and the National Transparency Authority (NTA) are paving the way for a multifaceted cooperation aimed at the exchange of best practices and know-how regarding business ethics, integrity and internal audit.

The HCAP-NTA collaboration will focus on the development of new policies, on the evaluation and implementation of existing practices and tools towards the enhancement of transparency and accountability, as well as the development of a methodology for the corruption and fraud risk assessment, specifying the appropriate risk management plan. The two parties will jointly host training seminars on business ethics and internal audit issues. It was also decided that NTA personnel will be given access to the HCAP digital training platform, which provides integrated programmes on business ethics.

The Memorandum was signed, at a special ceremony held at HCAP offices, by the Governor of the National Transparency Authority, Angelos Binis, the CEO and Deputy CEO of HCAP, Gregory D. Dimitriadis and Stefanos Giourelis, in the presence of Spyros Lorentziadis, HCAP Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee, and Giovanna Kampouri, HCAP Board member and Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee.

Mr. Binis underlined that “Cooperation between HCAP and the NTA is being strengthened today aimed at the promotion of the principles of integrity, transparency and accountability through five thematic actions that focus on the challenges faced by public enterprises. The NTA is implementing a number of actions that contribute to the prevention, the identification and the deterrence of any form of corruption in the activities of public and private entities and organizations.

The new strategy of HCAP is putting into practice the adoption of modern corporate governance principles to be implemented across the group, through coordinated interventions and high-level institutional cooperation with the National Transparency Authority. The signing of this Memorandum between the two parties is setting the seal on the existing cooperation, shared understanding and determination to promote transparency and corporate governance best practices.

HCAP has designed a modern groupwide internal audit and whistleblowing system that can also be used by the NTA; this is a move aimed at shielding the transparency, the smooth operation and, ultimately, the very efficiency of HCAP group members, in the public interest.
