Athens, August 1, 2025

Growthfund announces that on Thursday, 31 July 2025, a contract was signed with MATENISA TRADING CO. LTD, which was declared as the Preferred Investor in the tender process for the sale of the “Agia Triada Beach and Camping” property, located in the Municipality of Thermaikos, Regional Unit of Thessaloniki, for a total fee of 19.5 million euros. The signing was attended by the CEO and Deputy CEO of Growthfund, Giannis Papachristou and Panagiotis Stampoulidis, as well as MATENISA TRADING CO. LTD representative, Spyros Fokas.

As part of the international tender for the development of the property, an electronic auction (E-Auction) was conducted for the submission of improved offers by three investment schemes. The final offer represents a 140.7% increase compared to the opening bid, which was set at 8.1 million euros.

The property’s development will generate multiple benefits for the local community. Approximately 50,000 m² will be allocated to citizens and visitors of the Municipality of Thermaikos, while the construction of a new 4,000 m² school is also planned on the site. These interventions, combined with the designated forest area of approximately 18,000 m², will contribute significantly to the upgrading of public space in the area, for the benefit of the local community, while the development of the property will also lead to the regeneration of the coastal front.

Growthfund CEO, Giannis Papachristou, stated regarding the importance of the project: “Developing public property to boost regional growth and strengthen the Greek economy is one of Growthfund’s core missions. We are particularly pleased that such an important project for the local community is now entering the implementation phase, following the successful completion of the tender process. The development of the Agia Triada property will generate significant multiplier benefits: new jobs will be created both during construction and operation, the region’s tourism will be bolstered, and citizens’ daily life will be meaningfully improved through the upgrading of public spaces and the regeneration of the coastal front.”

The Deputy CEO of Growthfund, Panagiotis Stampoulidis, stressed: “With transparency and efficiency, Growthfund has completed another tender for a project that delivers significant benefits to the Greek economy and the public interest. Apart from the high fee secured through the E-Auction, the development of the Agia Triada property will contribute to the growth of the broader area and improve the quality of life for both residents and visitors. Of particular importance is the allocation of public spaces for the benefit of the local community, as well as the construction of a new school, which will meet essential needs of the area and strengthen social cohesion.”

In a statement, MATENISA TRADING CO. LTD, underlined the following: “MATENISA TRADING CO. LIMITED has completed the acquisition of a property of approximately 160,000 sq.m. in the Agia Triada area of Thessaloniki. The property will be integrated into a multifaceted development plan focused on sustainable tourism utilization, enhancing the local economy, and creating low-impact interventions with environmental and social benefits. The investment is aligned with strategic sustainable development priorities, delivering significant employment and economic benefits to the Region of Central Macedonia. The project’s design is guided by a comprehensive vision for sustainable tourism development, incorporating green technologies, improved energy efficiency, and full compliance with environmental requirements. Our aim is to create a model residential and tourism micro-environment, fully harmonized with the natural landscape, that showcases the area’s unique features. The project’s implementation is expected to significantly boost the local economy and contribute to the upgrading of the wider area, acting as a catalyst for further enhancement of Agia Triada’s coastal front and its integration into the broader tourism map of the region.”
